My garden 2008
My garden did very well in 2008. I had plenty of time to tend to it.
The tomatoes, okra, green beans, speckled butter beans and
crookneck squash did very well. My corn yielded about 40 cobs.
The watermelons had a good start but most got burnt up by the sun.
It was the first year that I tried to grow sweet potatoes. I ended up
with 6 plants that yielded about 40 sweet potatoes. They were quite
tasty and I even had enough to make a nice sweet potato soup.
Perhaps I will have even better luck this year.
I tried spinach and beets for the first time. I got only one beet out of all
my work and I have yet to figure out the secret to growing a successful
spinach plant
Here's a little compilation of pictures from last year.
