According to Nerdist.com Disney XD announced that Duck Tales the animated series is scheduled to be revamped in 2017 along with all of the original characters.
The original series, which ran from 1987 to 1990 followed the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his 3 nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie as well as Launchpad Mcquack, Scrooges fumbling pilot, and many other colorful yet lovable characters that were woven in and out of the series. Let's hope that the very much loved original series can be rebooted for the new generation of fans while holding fast to the essence of the show which made it great and not be just another failed upgrade and stain on the fabric of our much loved childhood television shows. I for one hope that they stick to the old style 2D animation and do not try to computer animate the new series or try to make it 3D. One example that I recall where one of my favorite shows was revamped in 3D was with the Garfield Show that was launched in 2008. It just did not have the same feel to it and seemed poorer quality and more childish than the much loved Garfield and Friends series of the 90's.
Another much loved 90's cartoon series that was recently revamped was Alvin and the Chipmunks which was rebooted in 2015 as Alvinn!!! and the chipmunks. The show kept the same theme song as the 90's series and has very much kept the feel of the 90's cartoon series as well as plots that still appeal to fans of the earlier series while utilizing 3D computer animation. The only thing that was off-putting as far as I was concerned was the way that the animators tried to make the chipmunks look like real chipmunks but their faces and hair color were at an uncomfortable contrast of brown hair and pasty white (or caucasian) faces.
Lets hope the ducks' appearance don't end up like that.
All in all, I am very much looking forward to the Duck Tales revamp and seeing Scrooge McDuck on live TV once again.
So what are your thoughts?
