Revamp of Ducktales 2017

According to Nerdist.com Disney XD announced that Duck Tales the animated series is scheduled to be revamped in 2017 along with all of the original characters.

The original series, which ran from 1987 to 1990 followed the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his 3 nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie as well as Launchpad Mcquack, Scrooges fumbling pilot, and many other colorful yet lovable characters that were woven in and out of the series.  Let's hope that the very much loved original series can be rebooted for the new generation of fans while holding fast to the essence of the show which made it great and not be just another failed upgrade and stain on the fabric of our much loved childhood television shows.  I for one hope that they stick to the old style 2D animation and do not try to computer animate the new series or try to make it 3D.  One example that I recall where one of my favorite shows was revamped in 3D was with the Garfield Show that was launched in 2008. It just did not have the same feel to it and seemed poorer quality and more childish than the much loved Garfield and Friends series of the 90's.

Another much loved 90's cartoon series that was recently revamped was Alvin and the Chipmunks which was rebooted in  2015 as Alvinn!!! and the chipmunks.  The show kept the same theme song as the 90's series and has very much kept the feel of the 90's cartoon series as well as plots that still appeal to fans of the earlier series while utilizing 3D computer animation.   The only thing that was off-putting as far as I was concerned was the way that the animators tried to make the chipmunks look like real chipmunks but their faces and hair color were at an uncomfortable contrast of brown hair and pasty white (or caucasian) faces.

Lets hope the ducks' appearance don't end up like that.
All in all, I am very much looking forward to the Duck Tales revamp and seeing Scrooge McDuck on live TV once again.

So what are your thoughts?

Google Doodle Ludwig Van Beethoven

Google has come up with another interesting and educational game in the form of their ever popular doodles for December 16-17 2015.  I really like this one. It places you in a narrative of sorts where different pieces of Beethoven's music gets mixed up and you have to put the pieces back together. The game concept is quite innovative. Check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Check it out here or search google doodles beethoven 245th

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Trailer is Out!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Trailer (2016) from Paramount Pictures is out today and I am very excited about it.  I was very impressed with the plot and treatment of the turtles in the first movie in this series that came out in 2014.  I have been a long time fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles since they first appeared in comic books and in the 90's cartoon series as well as the 90's movie trilogy.  Recent revamps of the turtles in the 2000's did not really excite me because the animation style and  feel of the series and movies changed to what seemed like a more simplistic and Japanese art style that most animated TV shows seemed to transition to at the turn of the millennium and was different than the style that I grew to love in the 90's. The smiling faces became rigid and the eyes be came white slants.  Even though they took on a more realistic image the whimsical and human feel of turtles was not there for me.  At any rate I am very glad to see a new series of turtle movies that I like very much and seems stay true to the turtles story and feel that made me grow to love them  while at the same time provide a since of nostalgia and also add some new dynamics with the help of CGI (Computer Generated Imagery). With the addition of Rock Steady and Bebop as well as the possibilities of Krang and Dimension X this movie holds many wonderful possibilities that have been long over due in the movie series.  I am so Siked!!!

How to Include Your Pet in the Ugly Sweater Contest

Your pet will look pretty snazzy in one of these ugly sweaters that I saw in Wal-Mart.  What will they come up with next?  Pet costumes are becoming more and more elaborate these days.  I really like these creative designs. One of these will really get your four legged family member into the holiday spirit or at least provide a nice photo op.  Anyway, Thanks for reading. I hope you like these as much as i did.

How to disconnect your Google account from Google Chrome Browser

If you are like me then you value more and more your online security. In this world of ever increasing connectivity of the online world with many social networks wanting to integrate with each other and other third party websites it is easy to get swept up in just going along.  Especially when Third party web sites give you the option of signing in with your social network user name and password.  I for one prefer to keep most of my online endeavors separate from each other.  I especially try to keep my social networking accounts set apart from any of my other online dealings because I feel that too much of our personal information is already out on the internet and doing so makes identity theft less likely and more compacted.

Ok. So that being said, I did not appreciate installing Google Chrome browser and finding that my Google email account was connected to the browser itself.  I can understand Google wanting to provide  the user with a unique way to personalize the browser.  However I do find this feature a bit intrusive considering how well reaching Google has become as they have their irons in many different fires. To my knowledge this feature was activated automatically and there was not an option to just "sign out" of the account as in most cases.

Below is an image of how the browser window appears: (Click on the images to make them larger)

Here you see where your email address or Google ID is displayed.

Let's get started.

1. Left click on the "menu button" to the right of the address bar.

2. Left click "Settings" on the drop down window.

3.  Click the "Disconnect your Google Account.." button under Sign in settings.

4.  Left click "Switch person".

5.  Left click "Remove this person".

6.  Left click the red "Remove this person" button.

7.  Left click "No thanks"

Now you should be able to browse freely without worrying about your account being connected to your browsing history.

I hope this tutorial was helpful to you. Thank you very much for reading.  Please feel free to comment, rate and subscribe.

How to Experience Virtual Reality In a Theme Park Setting

http://ilikethesepixels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/THE-VOID11.jpg

Ok. So I was surfing the net for a virtual reality space simulation to go on my desktop background and I stumbled on this article about a virtual reality theme park.  Does that not sound completely awesome?
The Void is located in Pleasant Grove, Utah and touts a completely immersive virtual reality experience that utilizes state of the art equipment and a predetermined physical space that you interact within.

The technology that they are using is state of the art.  They are creating the place in a predefined location of elements and physical space. This will allow them to match what is happening in the real world to the action within the virtual world. For instance: you can manipulate objects that are located in the physical world. So if you pick up a gun in the virtual world then you have a physical gun that can be picked up in real life, you can press on panels in the wall and get a physical reaction and interaction within the virtual world because the physical space is built to interact with your virtual experience. They also stepped things up even further with the addition of fans, smoke, sprinkles and steam that further immerse you into the virtual experience.  I am definitely going to have to make a the trip.  I really hope "The Void" does well and branches out to multiple locations across the U.S. and the world.

MASSIVE BLUE UFO OVER LOS ANGELES 11-7-15 Last Night

OK so I just ran across this video on youtube just now saying that they believed they saw a huge blue UFO in the sky and they caught it on video.  I think it may  be a large meteor. I saw a large fireball when I was in San Antonio Texas one night. It looked like it was only about 6 stories above the ground and totally silent but it was closer and bigger than that. Mine looked like it was about the size of a jet liner but it was burning. What do you think of the video they posted.

Funny things happen when lighted signs start to go out.

I was  on an excursion the other night and just happened to notice this sign on the building across the street failing.  I thought this was pretty funny. I would be much better if the "E" in "HOME" would have went out but I still thought it was funny.

Breakfast Turkey, Egg, and Cheese Wrap

Ingredients:

1 Flour tortilla
1 Egg
1/3 Small chopped white onion
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 Slices of honey roasted turkey
1 Slice of aged Swiss cheese
1 Pinch of black pepper

1. Lay out 1 tortilla out on a plate.

2. Add 2 Tbsp olive oil to a frying pan on low to medium heat.

3. Crack the egg into the pan and cook until egg white is no no longer translucent and it begins bubble.

4. Add the chopped onions on the opposite side of the pan from the egg.

5. Carefully lift the edges of the egg with a spatula so the egg is no longer stuck to the pan. It may be necessary to gently run the spatula up under the middle of the egg in order to completely break it free from the pan. Once the egg is free use the spatula to flip the egg over but be careful not to burst the yolk.  Season  with a pinch of black pepper.  After about a minute or a minute and a half the underside of the egg should be cooked.

6. Gently remove the egg with the spatula and place it in the center of the tortilla.

7. Continue cooking the onions until translucent and brown around the edges. Stir as needed so they do not stick to the pan.

8. Pour the onions  over the egg and make sure to turn off the burner on the stove.

9. Place the slices of aged Swiss cheese on top of the egg.

10. Place the honey roasted turkey slices on top of the cheese.

11. Roll the tortilla and its contents into an oval shape.

12. Wrap in aluminum foil to allow the cheese to melt. This will also keep the wrap warm until it is ready to be served.

Enjoy!

How to Make Makeshift Cabinet Handles Using Basic Office Supplies

Ok, so you've got this out of the way storage cabinet housing all your supplies at work but over time the door handles have broken off and are now no where to be found. Here is a quick fix until you can find some decent handles.

You will Need:

2 Jumbo Paperclips
4 Mini Binder Clips
1 Medium sized key (optional)

1 First unfold and straighten both paperclips.
2.Next push each end one paper clip through the top and bottom holes where the handle would go.
3. Use a hard flat object, like a key, to flatten the ends of the paper clip against the inside of the door.

4. Grab one of the mini binder clips and clip it to the top end of one of the paperclip that is poking through the cabinet door.

5. Bend the binder clip and the paperclip end back into a position where the paper clip is folded flat against the cabinet door surface.

6. Do the same for the bottom end of the paperclip.
7. Next fold the binder clip ends flat against the door surface so that they are not sticking out.
8. Lastly repeat steps 1-7 for the other door.
Now you don't have to pry your fingers in between the doors every time you need something out of the cabinet.

Halloween Party Ideas

I was browsing in the store recently and ran across some interesting decor for Halloween that I thought you might like.

First up were these two whimsical candy bowls. Good for keeping your guests from snagging too much candy at one time or to possibly deter little ones from taking off with your candy stash.

Have a look.

Here we have a Jack O' Lantern with a Wandering Eye and a spider that drops down as the unsuspecting victim reaches for some candy. Very nice!

Next we have an Skeleton with a wandering eye and quite a big mouth if you ask me. And of course a nice spider just waiting to pounce.

Next up a few accessories to spruce the place up.

What Halloween party is complete without a giant Skull lamp?  This beauty can add just the right amount of light and I wager it would definitely be quite effective at keeping little hands away from the candy bowl.  At least for a while. Don't you think?

Next up is adding a bit of old time charm. to your party decor never hurts. I thought this Spooky phone would be the perfect touch.

Well, there you go.  Hope you liked these Halloween party ideas.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

How to fix Outlook defaulting to File tab when replying to an email

Have you ever been replying to an email in Microsoft Outlook when all of the sudden you cannot for the life of you figure out what happened to your handy-dandy options ribbon and why the reply window keeps defaulting to the "File" tab?

Well a co-worker came to me with this very same issue a few days ago and so I thought I would share the solution with you too.

Basically when my co-worker clicked on reply to the message in the main window  Outlook opened a new window to compose the reply email but the ribbon with all the other options were missing and an extra click on the "Message" tab was needed in order to send the reply message.   Unfortunately my co-worker could not remember changing anything in order to arrive at this current state.

Upon some investigation you will find a small downward facing arrow on the right hand side of the menu bar in the compose window. This is highlighted in the picture below. This seemingly insignificant little arrow minimizes and maximizes the ribbon that holds all the cool options that you are used to seeing.

In order to get your ribbon back and stop defaulting to the "File" tab, you must left click on this downward facing arrow and the ribbon will drop down.  Upon left clicking the downward facing arrow will change to an upward facing arrow. Apparently the "Message" tab is set to default when the ribbon is maximized.  Note: The ribbon will be minimized or maximized on the next e-mail you reply to according to the orientation that it is left in the previous e-mail reply.  In other words, if the ribbon is maximized when you click send then it will remain defaulted to the maximized (visible) ribbon on the next reply window as well. It will only change if the little arrow on the right is clicked.

Well, I hope this little tip helps restore you sanity.  It can be quite frustrating when these sort of things happen when it seems that you have done nothing out of the ordinary to make them end up that way.   Happy E-mailing! Have a nice day!

How to Sooth your Sinuses

Here is a little tip to help when your sinuses really start to weigh you down. A nice cup of tea... with a twist.

Things You'll Need:

  • A Tea Cup
  • One herbal tea bag of your choice.
  • Water
  • Two lemon flavored cough drops.
  • A microwave or device to boil the water.
  • A spoon

Step 1
Choose your favorite(microwave safe) tea or coffee mug.
Step 2

Place One tea bag flat in the mug. I find that herbal or green tea is more effective opposed to milky or vanilla flavored teas.

Step 3

Unwrap two lemon flavored cough drops and drop them into your mug on top of your tea bag.

Step 4

Fill your mug with water and then place the mug in the microwave for one and a half to two minutes. Heating times may vary with different microwaves. Alternatively you could use a stove kettle or a coffee maker to heat your water and then carefully pour it into your mug over the tea bag and cough drops.

Step 5

Finally, carefully remove your mug from the Microwave. It will be very hot. I use a square pot holder to remove the mug from the microwave and then place the mug on the pot holder. Stir with a spoon to help mix in the Cough drops and to better dissolve them. Then let the tea steep for a few minutes. Inhale deeply, through your nose, the soothing aroma of the cough drops and the warm relaxing feeling you'll get with each sip opening your airways.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose herbal teas. nothing with a milky flavor.
  • Stay away from chocolate and dairy products which could make your sinus symptoms worse.
  • Remember, be careful when pouring hot water or handling hot containers.

Recent Facebook hoaxes and scams

There are many things that seek to grab our attention on social media. Facebook is ripe with a feast for the eyes with game advertisements, status updates from friends, and legitimate ads that it is easy to become complacent and be lulled into a false sense of security. This being said, we must still remain diligent and wary of not just blindly clicking on every link and ad that might look interesting to us.  Some scams have been trying to take advantage of Facebook users recently so please take some time to be aware of some of the ones that are circulating the internet.

The subscription hoax. This is another one that is causing havoc in the social network realm where users are making posts exclaiming that Facebook has finally decided on a price to charge user in order to keep parts of their account private.  Facebook as also dismissed these posts as a scam and that all right to private user media still belongs to the user and remains private free of charge. However the privacy policy does state, and I am paraphrasing, that any media posted as public is fair game for Facebook to use as they will.

The photo notification scam. This one works via email. Users receive an email saying you've been tagged in a photo on Facebook.  The fake email address is "Faceboook.com" (notice the extra o).  By clicking on the enclosed link, the user will lead to downloading  malware to the computer. Immediate deletion of this email is strongly advised.

The Facebook privacy hoax.  How it works it Facebook users post a status update that looks something like this:

"I do not give Facebook or any entities associated with Facebook permission to use my pictures, information, or posts, both past and future. By this statement, I give notice to Facebook it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, or take any other action against me based on this profile and/or its contents. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. The violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 1 1 308-103 and the Rome Statute). NOTE: Facebook is now a public entity. All members must post a note like this. If you prefer, you can copy and paste this version. If you do not publish a statement at least once it will be tactically allowing the use of your photos, as well as the information contained in the profile status updates."

Facebook put out a statement  Monday regarding this issue. "The thing about copying and pasting a legal notice is just a hoax," -Facebook.

Clickjacking.  Clickjacking is where fake links and buttons are added to a page to trick people into downloading malware, viruses, and or giving up personal information. Many are large brightly colored buttons or indecent image and video links.

The "dislike button" scam.  A link is posted by a user that says it will instruct the user on how to install the new Facebook "dislike button"; instead, it takes you to another site that will take your personal information.  Although Facebook really does plan to add a dislike button it is unlikely that you will have to download anything in order to take advantage of it if the dislike button is in fact added.

Thanks for reading and stay safe out there on the inter-web!

Heroes Reborn

So we all probably have mixed feelings  about the new Heroes  Reborn series after the downfall of the original Heroes series which left a bad taste in our mouths due to multiple plot holes after the first season and lots of unanswered questions when the show ended with the fourth season.  I for one hope that the show recaptures the excitement of the first season of the original series but from what I have seen so far it seems that my hopes may be dashed.  I am disappointed that more original heroes are not rejoining the adventure. Even so, Tim Kring better do a lot of elaborating on what happened to the original characters between then and now.  I was not all that impressed with the Heroes Reborn prequel nor its sub-par actors and the unwarranted use curse words which was quite minimal as I recall in the original series. However the plot seemed solid thus far and that it could have the potential for leading the series in the right direction provided Tim and the writers don't go off the deep end like they did with seasons two thru 4 of the original series.
In summation, I hope that the series has a long life and does well. I also hope that  it tries to please the original fans and rekindles the magic of the original Heroes. Come on Heroes Reborn! Don't blow it.

So all that being said.  Will you be watching the new premier of Heroes Reborn?

Take the Poll.

12 Sprigs Fresh Cilantro
2 Limes (juice)
1 Lemon (Juice to retain color of avocado)

     Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Cover pan with aluminum foil and bake on 450 degrees for 45 minutes.  Check after 30 minutes to make sure water has not all evaporated from the pan. If it gets low just add more.  Filets should be done when they flake apart. If you are not sure just cook a few minutes longer.

Step 2. While Salmon is baking rinse the tomatoes, avocado, cilatro, limes and lemon with water and then pat dry.

Step 3. Dice the tomatoes and cut the avocados in half and use a spoon to scoop out the inside while discarding the stone. Chop or break the cilantro sprigs in to 1 inch long pieces. Add diced tomatoes, avocado and chopped cilantro to a large bowl and gently mix.

Step 4. Cut the limes and lemon in half and sprinkle the juice over the tomatoes, avocado, and cilantro while being careful not to drop any seeds into the mixture.

Step 5. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Step 6. Place the tortillas on a microwave safe plate. Cover them with a  damp paper towel and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. Remove and place in  air tight container or aluminum foil to keep warm until serving.

How to Save on Air Conditioning Costs During The Summer with Homemade Window Covers

Are you getting frustrated trying to have a
comfortable temperature in your house during
the Summer and also trying to save money on
Air Conditioning?
Difficulty: Moderate

Instructions
things you'll need:
Full Size Black Trash Bags(number according to windows that you want to cover)
Velcro Tape
Scissors
Stable Chair or Ladder

1 First, Take the trash bag and flatten it out so that you can see 4 corners and
cut it (very Carefully) down the left side and down the right side. Make sure
that you cut strait down each side. *If done correctly, plastic should hang the
length of your window and cover most of the width of your window.

2 Now its time for the Velcro tape. Cut 2, 3 to 4 inch strips of equal length.
Then, remove the tape guard on one side of the velcro and tape it to the top
edge on the left side. Do the same thing with the other strip, but on the right
side. This end will be the top of your window guard. If you have blinds or
shades you should be just fine with just the two top velcro strips. If not, you
may need to add two more at the bottom.

3 Now take the new homemade window cover to a window where the sun shines
in most of the day. If you have blinds, raise them test out how your cover will fit
the window.
Now remove the sticky guard on the outside part of the velcro on the right and
left sides and press the velcro tape securely against the top left and right side
of your window while stretching the width of the plastic to the width of the
window pane. Make sure that it level.

4  Ok, Do you feel cooler yet? Now that your window guard is securely in the
window. carefully let down your blinds or shades so that the plastic rests
between the window pane and the blinds.

5  Repeat Previous steps for each window. And enjoy a cooler house and a
lower Electric bill.

Tips & Warnings:

Feel free to experiment with adhesive attachments. Duct tape left adhesive on my window so don't use duct tape.
Check to make sure the tape is secure every once in while.
It may take a while to make a straight cut in the trash bag but be patient and it will pay off.
Make sure you have good footing when trying to reach the top of the window.
No wobbly chairs.
Be careful.

How to Grow Sweet Potato Slips

If you want to know how to grow sweet potato slips then you've come to the right place. It take some patience and a little work but the rewards are great.

Difficulty: Moderate

things you'll need:
Healthy sweet potatoes
Toothpicks
Jars or small containers
Water
Sunlight

Instructions
1 First off, find some healthy sweet potatoes. No openings in the skin, soft spotsor mold. Basically if it looks good enough to eat then you are good to go. You can find them at your local farmer's market in the fall or just go pick out some at your local grocery store or use some that you grew the previous year and stored in a cool dark place all winter.

2 Grab one sweet potato, two toothpicks and a jar or a water tight container that the potato can stand upright in without tipping over. The toothpicks will serve as a platform so that the roots have room to develop. Very Carefully push one toothpick all the way through the sweet potato about half way down . Do the same with the other toothpick and therefore making a(+)with the toothpicks if looking down on the sweet potato vertically. Sometimes it helps to twist the toothpick if it gets stuck when you are pushing it through the sweet potato. Be patient so not to damage the sweet potato. You will probably break a few toothpicks in the process. If so. Get a new toothpick and keep trying. Its easy once you get the hang of it.

3 Now that that is done. Place your newly punctured sweet potato in the jar so that all four toothpick ends rest on the rim of the jar.

4 Fill the jar with water and set it in a sunny window facing East. Check the water level about every day. Make sure the jar stays full. In a few weeks purple eyes will start to emerge from the top and white roots from the bottom. Soon after, the eyes will sprout leaves. Each eye will grow into a slip. When a vine from an eye grows to six inches pinch it off where green meets purple and another slip will grow in its place. Plant the slips in your garden In hills or rows in loose fertile soil during the summer planting season. Sweet potatoes require a long hot growing season. potatoes should be ready to harvest in about 120 days.
Happy Gardening!

Tips & Warnings:
Remember to keep jar full of water.
Don't let your potatoes get too hot or too cold they could rot. Its best to keep them indoors near a warm window with plenty of sun when trying to grow the slips.
